During the summer period of 2008 (July /August) until to the beginning of December 2008, we will be organising various events to raise money for the Deaf children’s education project. These will include a party night with fun and games at some of the Deaf clubs in London, as well as a fantastic Barbecue (BBQ) day, car-washing and a day trip to the sea side.
We are also organising a Dinner Dance in November 2008. Finally, some of our fundraising supporters will complete a walk challenge, distance of 84 miles on Hadrian’s Wall over a 7 days period, starting in the North West of England, crossing to the North East.

Our local representatives in Kinshasa (Congo) continue to make fortnightly visits to each of the 28 Deaf women & girls, whom have received a capital loan in January 2008. The visits are made to their business premises or homes.
These Deaf women & girls are now working well in their own business, buying farm products in the farm villages and selling them in the locals markets in the capital Kinshasa. They now have ceased their involvement in prostitution and are starting earning enough money to eat healthier foods, send their children to school, pay their rent and bills; also they’re now able to buy medicines.
Twelve Deaf women have paid off their loan and are investing their earnings in their families and children. The money that has been repaid is now available after initial training, to be offered to the next Deaf women’s group, to take advantage of this great opportunity.
Our Sign Language classes for the hearing parents of Deaf children are now closed, as we have reached the end of its funding term. We hope to re-open it as soon as we receive another Grant.
Our two mini buses that transport Deaf children to school, now need repairing, also a full mechanical check and service is required during the children’s holiday between July / August 2008. Our aim is to have these buses, ready and in working serviceable order, when the children return to school, at the beginning of September 2008.
